Nicholas John Barnett born May 7 1989, died following motor vehicle accident in Lexington Massachusetts on November 21 2007. Nick graduated Lexington High School in 2007, and was in his first year at Bowdoin College.

Nicholas came into my life at Brigham & Women's Hospital early in the morning on May 7, 1989 (he actually was born mid afternoon). He was early, small at 7 lbs. 6 oz., and perfect. Nick died at Lahey Clinic, in Burlington, early in the morning of November 22, 2007, of injuries from a car crash in Lexington the night before. His entry into this world and his departure from it are, for me, defined by two nights spent in hospitals. This is the story of the time in between, mostly.
